Use a reputable password manager to create and store a different strong password for every account. Protect the manager with a strong master password.
Enable MFA on email, financial, social, and work accounts. An authenticator app or passkey is generally preferable to relying only on SMS when those options are available.
Install security updates for your operating system, browser, phone, and apps. Remove software you no longer use.
Check the sender and destination of links before opening them. Be cautious with unexpected attachments, urgent payment requests, and messages asking for login codes.
Back up important files and periodically check that you can restore them. Use device locks and review app permissions and account recovery settings.
